Vice President and Chief Content Officer | NCRP
Timi Gerson has two decades of experience building content, campaigns and coalitions for change. As NCRP’s Vice President and Chief Content Officer, she oversees NCRP’s research and assessment efforts as well as public policy campaigns, which for more than 40 years have been used to push the philanthropic sector to be more accountable, transparent and responsive.
Prior to joining NCRP, she served as the long-time Washington Director for American Jewish World Service (AJWS), where she oversaw U.S. policy and advocacy efforts to support grassroots grantees fighting for human rights and an end to poverty in communities worldwide. Timi also spent several years at Fenton Communications where she managed a Latin America practice area and advised domestic groups on strategic communications to shift the debate on the Iraq war, health care reform, common sense gun laws and attacks on civil rights and liberties. She is an “Inside the Beltway” native who began her career running economic justice campaigns as Field Director for Public Citizen.
Timi is a fluent Spanish speaker who has lived in South and Central America and holds a Women’s Studies B.A. from Earlham College. She finds inspiration in the Jewish social justice tradition, from immigrant women organizers like Clara Lemlich to religious texts that teach a long-term commitment to change, insisting “You are not obligated to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.”
