Jennifer (Jen) Brown is the Associate Director of Economic Policy at UnidosUS (formerly the National Council of La Raza). She oversees the Economic Policy Project’s research, policy analysis, and advocacy efforts on issues critical to building financial security for Latino families such as banking; consumer credit; consumer protections; homeownership; tax; retirement; and workforce policies. Headquartered in Washington, DC, UnidosUS is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations, UnidosUS reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 35 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.

Mrs. Brown’s career at UnidosUS began as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Economic Policy Project where her work was primarily focused on retirement, tax policy, and workforce issues. At UnidosUS, she has authored or co-authored several publications, including: Paid Family and Medical Leave Would Benefit 27.5 Million Latino Workers; Latinos’ Retirement Insecurity in the United States; Beyond Wages: Effects of the Latina Wage Gap; and Federal Programs Lift Millions of Latinos Out of Poverty.

Prior to joining UnidosUS, Mrs. Brown held positions with the American University; National Institute for Retirement Security; U.S. Department of Labor; Georgetown University Law Center; AARP; and several law firms. She holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center; a J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law; an M.S. in Law & Society from the American University School of Public Affairs; and a B.S. in Philosophy and Criminology from the University of Florida.
